I scored a killer ole school tank today! I recently got a short track tank for my 200x, but months ago I made a few calls to an old racer from my area, Bob Beh.. anyway I had asked about 200x parts and after he searched all he could find that wasn't "stock" stuff was this tank. It's cut and welded like most racers did back in the day. I asked if he did this, but he said no, it was another racers...he was a 250r guy. Its actually pretty nice. does have a dent on the left side from knee hits. but they had coated it totally in oil so there is no rust. I think I will pop the rest of the tank scoop mounts off, and fill that area like most guy's did... and fix the dent and paint it white! maybe a while, but i got it.

Nice find!
Is the cap area crushed in a bit?

thanks man! no the paint has flaked and the tank is grimey.. oily and dirt ... gonna have to strip it down and redo it with a primer sealer...i dont want the oil to come up through the paint and body work..

yeah, it looks pretty cool. If you go and look up mickey dunlaps old bikes (on the forum here). you will see his bikes had this done too.

I had something very similar to your tank back in the day . MX racing was hard on a steel tank and the tank ears would break and leak so when IMS came out with the plastic tank that was pretty much the end of modifying a stock tank . Nice old relic you have their .
soon to be added to my replica 200x racer...thanks again Jay.

Real Nice Find, I raced with Bob a few times back in the day. I use to live in Marilla, Near East Aurora.NY.
Bob was Fast.

That's awesome! Yep it's a cool tank, but I'm not gonna hang on to it, member 250x will be taking it home. I have an ims short track tank, and no funds to build another machine so I'm glad someone who's into vintage stuff is getting it.
