A couple months ago I got a old atc70 off some farmer for 50$ I think it is a 1982-1985 it wasnt running but with fresh gas and a carb clean It fired up but stalls wen I give it gas. I didn't think they sold any parts or anything for it anymore but I went to the Internet to check nd I found this forum and other sites and i seen the things people do with the atc 70s it's crazy! Now I dont just want to get mine running I want to get a whole new engine and carb. I was thinking about getting the lifan 140cc engine I've been reading about them and apparently they bolt right in to the atc 70. Don't know what I'm gonna do about the kick start I guess you have to change it over I don't want to put a battery on the atc70 is it hard to put the old 70 motors pull start on it?
www.pccmotor.com/lifan-140cc-engine-motor--oil-coo.html thats the kit I was thinking of getting. Has a oil cooler will that fit/work?

What do you guys think/ reccomend?

check out beatrice cycle for swap information. I found their website very useful when swapping engines in my 70. I put a pirrahna 125cc in mine and installed my old pull start.

Was gonna get this pipe cuz its cheap with a little bending it should fit. Hope its good with the lifan 140.

Anyone on here put a pull start on the lifan 140?

i've yet to do a swap yet, but i do believe a 140 will be very tight. you might need to stretch the frame for it or it'll rub the front tire. not really sure on that though. i do know a 125 will go in with a little fender trim, best to add a front engine mount aswell. i'd recommend getting an engine with the full wiring kit and stuff also, just to make wiring it up easier. it's been done a few times before, so i'm sure someone with more hands on knowledge will chime in.

good luck and have fun. :beer

You will have to stretch the stock frame. You can put a pull start on a 140. And yes it will hurt when you pull start it! LOL Check on the website atc70.com for parts and advice. Beatrice cycle is nice as well. Glamis Dunes .com in their 70 section will blow your mind. If you want to get your pullstart stuff yourself, you will need a trx70 sidecover and you will also need the atc70 pullstarter and pullstart cage or the trx70 pullstarter and pull start cage. Which ever pull starter you decide to use, you MUST use the matching cage or it won't be good. You have to Machine a little from the lifan flywheel and a little from the inside of the pullstarter cage, for the cage to fit over the flywheel, then you will have to drill and tap 4 holes to hold the pullstart cage to the flywheel. The trx70 left side cover will be a bolt on. You will have to make a machine plug/extension for your frame and mark and install so everything is properly back in alignment. You will have to relocate your front tank mounts. You will have to rewire and add any lighting at this time. You will need to mod your footpegs to clear the wider engine, wider because of the clutch pack. You will need to mod or purchase pre modded gear shift lever. You will need to see about a longer rear brake cable. You may have to extend the wires for your on/off switch as well. And then you are about ready for the fun to begin. Best of luck with your project.

Ok. Does the 125cc lifan go in any easier? I dont have fenders on the bike what so ever nd probly won't get any if that gives me anymore room nd what about widening the tires so I could use the kick start? Easier to do than putting on the pull start?

If you want the easy way, just run a seat and no front or rear fenders. No front fender clearance problems and no tires or rear fenders to get in the way of the kicker or no axle spacers to buy. Chepaer that way too. Cause not only is the rear tire close, but you have the right rear fender in the way. But it's what you want to do with your trike.

Soo the kicker wont hit the tire if I have no rear fender?

Not makin mine to look really good for show I just think it will be a blast to ride around on a high powered atc70.

The kicker won't hit the tire, but your foot might.
