I just traded for a tri-z.I am new to these so I dont know to much.

It will only start with gas sprayed into the back of the carb.Just a little bit and it will start for 5-10 seconds then die out.

So I took the fuel line coming from the shutoff vavle going to the carb off and it is dry so its not getting gas.

So I took the line going from the shutoff valve to the fuel pump and no fuel came out at all and it looked dry too.

I can see the gas in the lines going from the gas tank to the fuel pump but once it gets there nothing happens. It doesnt suck it any when it runs.

Sooo is it safe to assume its my fuel pump causing this?

My fuel pump and shutoff valve are both on and im using 32:1.Carb is clean too,it just aint making to the carb

Its hooked up....I will check to see if its clogged.

Also I just ordered a new fuel pump for it but it only has 3 hose hook ups and the stock has 4.How will this work with it?
Its just like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Tri-Z-250-YTZ-250-TriZ-Fuel-Pump-85-/150490503032?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2309eed778

I am confused as to which hose isn't needed on this pump opposed to the stock one with 4 hookups?

I think the stock one has 4 because 2 lines come from the tank (on and reserve) If you use that aftermarket pump just run the lower tank line to the pump and plug the other one. or the other way around... I would get the seal kit for the stock pump and rebuild it. take it apart and see if you can spot the problem, maybe its clogged up. also the little bowl under the pump has a little filter in it I think, that might be clogged

Plug is fine.Theres is NO fuel getting to the carb...It has clear fuel lines on it and not a drop is getting out of the fuel pump.

The pump could be clogged as stated. Or need rebuilding, which isn't difficult. Be careful when taking apart to notice how its put together. Take you some cell pics and maybe make a chalk mark all the way across one end so you can line the pieces back up. You could take it off and clean it off and see if you can blow air gently through it in the on position and the reserve position to see if its clogged.

Pump had tons of dirt in it so I cleaned it out and it started right away.
