84 200e , hight idle on and off ?

hey guys , just got the bike all back together , got a new needle for the original carb , had it tuned and cleaned 2 years ago but now that its all back together it will idle high after i crack the gas , if i put it into gear it will idle down again.. i sprayed around the head to make sure its not leaking , no change idle. i have the clip on the needle in the second notch. the carb is sealed good and doesn't seem to be leaking , another thing is that it doesn't have much top end when your getting up to speed , accept when i pull the choke it give a little more go... could the carb be dirty again maybe from sitting for a year ?

Sounds like your throttle cable may be sticking or the slide return spring is weak. If you unscrew the top off your carb, how does the throttle feel/respond? It should be snappy with no drag. This may also explain why you can't get full top end if your cable is binding up?
