KLT 160 oil leak at gear shifter shaft??

I have an oil leak at the shifter shaft. Not sure if the seal can be replaced from the outside or whether the side engine cover needs to be replaced? Has any one done this seal? Thanks.

ive never done it myself. but i know one of the guys here in town who races quads had the same problem on his "play" quad. i remember him havin to take the cover off to replace it. not sure about yours tho
