Found an ad for an old atc70. Ad said the rare blue one. Emailed to owner and yesterday morning I received 2 pics of a very dirty xmas70. It had been sitting in the guys barn since the early 90's. His niece got it new in 83. The pullstart cord broke and it got 2 flats so it was put into the barn where it just sat.
So this morning I drove 3+ hours each way to save it. The rear fenders are in really good shape. No cracks or chunks missing. The gas tank looks clean inside with only one little dent. The seat pan looks like new. Still has the spark plug tool. The carb actually still has the choke lever and the little cap that goes over the spring.
There is surface rust on alot of it. It needs 3 new tires and the front forks are nent backwards alittle. The motor melted a 2" dia hole through the front fender. Throttle and brake cable barely move.
All in all though its complete and salvagable. The price + gas was a steal for the rear fenders alone.

I posted a link for one of these in the CL / eBay section a few months ago. It was in excellent shape for all of $600 or $800. I wish I had money.

atc350xer I am putting these on my other xmas edition. I have two other oem xmas 70 rear fenders, but both were trimmed. These are really nice.
DasUberKraut I only paid $100 for the whole bike so It was a great deal even with using a full tank of gas.

That is what I heard also, but if the winner wanted to trade the bike in towards a larger model then the dealership would sell it. I talked to a guy who's dad did exactly that.

The tank is surprisingly clean inside. It only has one small dent in the side. Iam going to take the rer fender of for my other xmas editon. I hace 3 tires that I can throw on it, plus an extra seat too. So if I can get it running it would only take a hour or 2 to have it become ridable. Then who knows what I will do with it.

Well I had time today to work on the 70. Used a spare pullstart and no spark. Picked up new points put them in and I had spark. Put a little gas in the carb and sprayed the head with a little fluid and after a few pulls it started. I didnt want to run it much with 20yr old oil in it. Tomorrow it gets tires that hold air put on and new fuel lines. Then an oil change.
Hopefully by mid-morning I will be able to give it its first ride in 20 years.

Its pretty cold out today, so I might have to load the 70 up in my truck and take it to my buddies heated garage to finish working on it.

Had a little time today and took the 70 to my buddies heated garage. I have never seen a carb as dirty as this one was. Changed out the jets and cleaned the carb and petcock really well. A couple pulls and she purred like a kitten. Took it outside and rode it around my buddies yard. Probably the first time in 20yrs it has been riden. It ran real well. shifted through all the gears smoothly. Idled great. Needless to say Im a very happy camper today!

Well here it sits with my other xmas 70. The one in front is the barn find. I put the seat, tires and working pullstart on it. I have riding it the last few weekends. The one in the back doesnt get riden much, but does get brought out sometimes and riden lightly.
