Wife is in Vet school at Iowa State. Living cheap in the trailer park. I can see the vet school door from my house. Convenient. Built the shed in September. its an 8x12. Electricity, and Direct TV. Keeps me entertained while she is studying. Got the bike in January.
Lets see your work space..

I've got a 40 x 100 barn that I divided up, I rent out 2 40x25 sections and have 40 x 50 for myself. There are one 12 x 12 and one 14 x 12 heated mini shops inside. 1 for the trikes, and one for my mill and lathe.
Overall inside space for my junk:

My workshop is my driveway on a nice day. My work bench is a really strong well built picnic table. My barn has horses in it and the 10X18 garden shed has 3 trikes and 2 quads in it plus my riding mower and all my fishing gear. I need a nice big 3 car garage for all my crap.

My garage is a minefield of parts, debris, projects, and junk... I have to climb over stuff to get to the back... and if I want to work on anything, it all gets shoved out into the driveway.

My "shop" is just the third stall of my garage... It's where I work on stuff but also where I store them. Right now I have 5 toys and my fold up trailer in there so it is kind of crowded. I keep the one I'm currently working on nearest the bench where the 250R is now. During the winter I keep my sled in the back yard to free up space in here but since we hardly got any snow this year I moved it back into the garage yesterday.
I have a 12 ton press and a drill press plus a grinder and vise mounted to the work bench. Also have an air compressor for when I need to use air tools, which isn't very often. I like the shop press most of all and now that I have it I don't know how I lived without it before.

Wish I had a shop like some of you guys. I'd have to build one from scratch if I wanted one.. Maybe pick up one of those Home Depot DIY shed kits and add power to it. In the meantime my toys all have to sit outside under a tarp, in the cold.
Or I could try to double door my basement and tear up the carpeting. It never stays clean, the family seems to think it works best as a storage room, even though it has a workbench and all inside, including my airplanes.

I finished this thing on Dec 30th just in time for drinks on New Years Eve to celebrate. I vowed it was going to be done in 2011 and it just about killed me accomplishing it. I put a loft in it for storage. The loft storage will be getting insulated and sheeted this year I hope. There's a sneak peek of my wife sitting on her almost complete 'Lady Bug 70' too. Just waiting for my paint guy to call. I'll concentrate on getting it tooled up this year with all the goodies.

DO NOT buy one of those shed kits from home depot. Build from scratch. It is HALF the cost. The kits also dont come with shingles, and are very cheaply made. I built mine for about 2k with electric, lights, and a roll up aluminum locking door. The same kit from depot (or for the same size i should say) had 2x4 floors, all waferboard, (i used T1-11 for the walls and advantec for the floor) and they dont come with shingles (400+) and they ran about 4 grand. I also did my walls and rafters 16 (not 24)on center with 2x6 floors. Those are a waste of money. Just so you know.

Organization is not one of my strong suits when it comes to my garage. I can't throw anything away. Now the house, everything goes in the trash. I hate clutter in my house and my garage also but I can't ever seem to get rid of anything.
It never fails I'll trip over something for three monts, get tired of it and toss it in the trash. The next day I'll need it.

I agree 100%!!
I poured a 16x20x4" slab for about 450$. Framed it 8' tall and cut my own rafters 16"s o.c.
However, it is PACKED! I need a 20x60 or 30x50, but something, definitely larger......

if anyone wants/needs sandblasting or powder coating let me know. got all the abilities and tools for it. the blast cabinet is 4 feet long so i can do trike frames, rims, swing arms, etc... and the oven is 6 feet long so no problem there for cooking just about anything.

I'm going to have spray foam insulation put in my shop after I research it and find a good company to do it. So far I'm leaning towards the closed cell foam. Any recommendations from anyone with experience in it being put in your shops? Today it hit 85 deg here and it was 96 in my oven, I mean shop. In the heat of the summer it's about 120 deg in there and I just can't deal with that.

It seems like so much more cost for the shop, whereas your home is heated 24 hours a day that little extra the cell insulation would save would be worth it. I can't see it in a shop, with the overhead door and whatnot.

Ha! Your right. It is a bit out dated. And at LEAST needs to be cleaned up. I was out there this morning, taking the China carb off my sons 70(which I'll have some questions about later), because it's leaking. I do like old stuff and have a hard time throwing some items away.
