i just bought a dg pipe and silencer for my 1982 250r and was wondering if anyone knew if i needed to re-jet the carb or just move the needle up one notch on the seat so it will run a little richer... or maybe i dont have to change anything, ive heard a few different opinions.. any insight would be much appreciated!

Well run it then check the plug. Then you can rejet accordingly if at all

chances are you will have to go up on your main jet size.

Yeah, if it's running good with the stock pipe, you will likely need to go up at least 1 size on the main. I made the mistake of putting a pipe (Bill's) on my 82 250R without re-jetting...melted the piston down! I believe I ended up 1 size larger on the main, but could've been 2 (alot of years ago, my memory ain't what it used to be).
