Ive done rear axle carriers and I just drilled a hole in the center and used a tap to cut some threads.I bought a zerk at ace hard
ware but forgot what size tap.Just put the zerk where it is easy to get at.

Do zerks get a tapered hole like a pipe thread? That would explain some things about my zerk fitting attempts.
For TulsaMike - mock that up in the frame and see where you can actually reach with a grease gun. I put a fitting on the swingarm pivot on my white 200x and did not mock it up first. It's really hard to reach...
I also added a zerk on my white 200x rear axle bearings. When I did, I wanted grease to reach everything so:
- I drilled and tapped the swinger for the zerk. On the 200x, the swinger is the axle housing.
- I drilled a couple of holes in the bearing spacer so grease could get between it and the axle.
- I removed the inner seals from the bearings. I left the outer seals in the bearing. This way, grease could get to the bearings.

Umm, sorry why do you want to do this?? Those bearings are sealed??
I mean I understand the principle, but not for this application. Without someplace for the grease to go you will possibly push a bearing out or at best pop a seal.
If everything is properly installed and clean during installation that is all that's needed..

Well I read on a site that they drilled a zerk hole for the sleeve that slides on the inside of the barrings.

So without inserting the zerk should I just grease the axle and slide it in?
