In every deal the buyer always waits for the other shoe to drop. In my case I didn't notice it in my stargazed test drive, but it isn't the end of the world. Yes i bough the 200X that was on CL and yes I paid $700. The bike runs strong, no smoke, new tires, front shocks and alel and wheel bearings rebuilt. However i didn't feel the clutch slipping untill I took it out for the afternoon after I bought it.
So, what is the best clutch kit for a 1984 200X? and while I am in there what gauskets and things should I replace? I would like to upgrade or repair whatever is common to do.
Thanks, 110KLT

I'd try the search key, if it works for you.
Lots of pages of info in one shot. say? 2oox clutch?
but someone will also chime in soon.
You've undoubtedly checked the clutch adjustment
and cable kinks and free play.
see if you can click on the following words.
service manual
it should light up and direct you to a free manual if you don't already have one.
Not sure what else is in that side of the x engine to check or upgrade / replace
but someone knows what to look for.
At least you've got a great start to a trike that should run forever (again).

I don't know about "best" clutch kit. I used the EBC frictions in my 200cc Loncin (Lifan) and they work fine. They are the same plates as the 200X (and XR80, and XR100, and damn near every old school Honda single).
Clean the oil slinger while you're in there.
You will need the 4 prong Honda clutch nut tool and some snap ring pliers if I recall. They're $10-15.
Some pics of my Loncin clutch job. You'll notice your 200x is the same inside. Oil slinger is the smaller circle on the right. You need to take it off to get the clutch plates out. Easy job with the right tools:

Whatever plates you get ,do new springs. Makes all the difference.

God I am in one of those places. First I hate to pay a shop to do anything. However second being unexperanced and needing the special clutch tool I may just pay the $100. Once he gets the parts in he can schedual it for a one day service. I like the guy at the local shop, and if I helped with one before I might attempt it. Guess I actually have the money and I am playing it safe.

Sometimes you gotta make that decision. The job's actually pretty easy if you change your mind...

$100 is pretty good, plus parts I assume?
But, you know there is a way to remove the clutch without the special tool..I just removed the clutch retaining nut with an impact while holding the basket with my hand. Spun right off..the rest goes with normal hand tools.
If one I ever did was on my 350x, used the manual and bits of advice from the other members. Actually pretty simple..I could do one now in about 1-1.5 hours. You might consider trying..
An electric impact cost me about $50 a couple years ago, best investment ever!
