i found a descent looking 84 250r. has no headlight but a number plate to replace it but other than that it looks descent and runs like a top. is 1000 to much?

In my area, that's not a steal, but not unrealistic either if it is in good shape and mechanically sound. Frankly, I don't come across too many foolers up here for sale.. But I'm up here in NY. Might be different in your area.

I paid $ 600.00 for mine but it needed some work. Had no headlight also but they go on ebay for about 40 bucks all the time . If i were you i would save my money for a 85/86 liquid cooled , better suspension hands down.

I'm from North East Tennessee, jon jon, what part of NC are you in? I look at Ashville's CL several times a week and often as far east as Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Greensboro. R's aren't common and they aren't cheap around here. If it's a solid 3 wheeler, I'd say the price is fair. Rider grade gen 1 200X's are normally priced in the $1K-$1200 range around here. Air cooled R's aren't as sexy as the gen 3's but air cooled does have 1 less system to worry about.

I have a 81,83 and 85.Love all three. The liquid r front end will bolt right on the 83-84 .But thats not a bad deal .I have around a grand in my 300r motor alone. In my area threre is another liquid r and I have three running and thats it. as far as I know.

I gave 600$ for mine in runnign condition with wide axle and a few other goodies. Just depends on the area. Personally I would hold out for a liguid cooled R just because I didnt have the best luck with my air cooler, just personal opinion though.

The easy part is to look at the shrouds. Long shrouds? Pumper. Short shrouds? Fooler. If it's stock of course.
As well, keep in mind the pipe is on the left side on the fooler and the right side on the pumper.

Back in the 80s it was popular for guys to put cr engines in the air cooled 83-84 Could be posible conversion project.
