Anybody ever try swapping one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/LATE-80s-HONDA-XR600-ENGINE-W-CARBS-MOTOR-/300693267221?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4602b72315&vxp=mtr in a 350x frame? Could this topend fit the 350x bottom with some machining or put the 350x kicker gear in the 600xr bottom? Are the xr600's much more powerful than a modded 350x?

It's funny you've asked this question. I have purchased, thanks to SWIGIN, who is a member on the board here, a 350 lower end that has a modded Ascott 500 top end which has been made to fit the 350x lower end. Now I've read that the xr600 top end can fit the Ascott 500 lower end. So I would think, that following the route of cause and effect, that you could adapt the xr600 top end to the 350x lower end. I don't know how physically alike (or unalike) that the Ascott 500 and the xr600 are, so that would possibly be the only limitation. It's amazing to see that a 350x cylinder sleeve, will drop down through a stock Ascott 500 bore cylinder. I don't know what limitations would be about weight differences between the 350x lower end and the xr500 top end. There may be a ton of balancing work involved. But without alot of further investigation, I would guess that it just may very well be possible. Expensive, but possible. LOL
