I forget who it was but someone here likes to run Havoline(valvoline) or whatever it is. I couldnt resist taking the pic.I only use this for lubing cables and other moving parts but it will never get mixed in my gas.I'm not even sure how it ended up in my garage. I use Klotz and Maxima.

.... unlike the rest of you snobs .... I'll run any pinger oil I can get my hands on (or whatever the local 7-11 carries) as long as it carries a TC-W rating. I've been doing this for almost 20 years and havnt had an engine blow due to "oil" yet. BTW ... I don't ever run wild mix ratios either - usually only 20:1 - 25:1.

hey jim,
did you know the the oil blend that maxima uses were deveopled for them by castrol. i've used maxima oils for years.
if you guys like the maxima oils, then you should try castrol TTS synthetic racing premix. comes in a green-blue bottle and is about $6-7 a bottle. burns cleaner then the maxima oils and top-end on the motor seems to last longer between rebuilds.

Does the castrol smell as good as Maxima or Klotz when its in the air? I realize I'm pouring toxins and carbon monoxide into the air everytime I ride but, It should atleast smell good :) I didnt know using a brand name 2 stroke oil classified someone as a snob.
WHy do some people use motor oil in thier cars that cost 89 cents a quart, and others only buy mobil 1 that cost $7-8 a quart.

klotz on race fuel cannot be beat on the smell. castrol is allright but not quite as good.

what oil do you guys think is the least smokey?

I love two strokes, but dont really want to be pumping a big cloud of smoke out the back all day long, some places actually do have polution problems associtated with bikes/sleds etc.. So as far as I am concerned, less smoke the better.

Blue Marble has the least amount of smoke.

I've had 84 ski-doo citation SS for 3 years now, had oil injc, I run the selection that the local 'quick and sleezy' gas station offers, castrol super high proformance snowmobile oil, 2.50 a quart, valvoline snowmobile oil, 2.70 a quart or "newline" synthetic oil, 4.00 a quart, I've had for 3 years now and just this summer I tore it down and re-sealed/re-ringed it, pistons looked fine, jugs/crank bearings where fine etc, so I doubt it makes any diffrance, my buddie has 94 polaris 700 triple and always runs castrol in it, had it 3 years also with no internal problems, so I myself think it's just peice of mind running $8 a quart oil, although if I had really set up for racing then I might run Klotz, ohh and by the way I run the 85cents a quart oil in my trucks and never have any problems, change it 3000 miles though.
