85 vs 86 350x voltage regulator?

Is there a difference in the voltage regulators on 85 vs 86 350x?They do have the same part number.

Not from what I read lately.They changed them in 86 and sell just one to use on both?I just want to know if it is safe to use the 85 regulator with the 86 stator and not ruin anything?What I am doing is putting a 86 take out motor in a 85.After doing so many searches you get too many different answers.

I may be wrong, but I believe they mount a bit differently; Or I'm thinking of my 200X........
