So after hounding John to try and reproduce some key pads for some of the earlier Honda's, he finally got sick of me and told me to do it myself;)...well, here's the result. If you don't recognize it, it the key pad for the 87 TRX250r, and it came out pretty damn nice, if I do say so myself. I'm waiting on the black casting resin to come in the mail, and will hopefully be offering these for sale shortly. Also, I'd really like to remake the 87 200x dash pad, so if anyone has one they'd be willing to let me borrow to make a mold of, you'd get a free one (and of course yours back damage free) in return. If I could get some I would love to...I just saw a nos pair go for 150 on ebay...they're the same as the 87 200x, so I could kill kill 2 birds with 1 stone to say. If anyone has one in decent shape to loan out, I'd start making them.

I have a one new slotted plug if you want to try making them. It is the only one I have been able to find besides the ones on my X. Luckily, those are in good shape too.

I think many many people would be interested in converting thier trikes to keyed if you were to make some that fit the 250r and 350x as well.

The ones on my '87 are decent, but the slots are a little rounded off. Funny those slots are kinda worthless anyway. A new fresh set would be great.

That's actually how this whole thing started. If you look at my build thread from last year, I made my 350x look like the 87 200x...they only thing I was missing was the key. Based on the research, both the trx250r or 200x key pads will work for the 350x and atc250r, you just need to get a set on handlebar mounts with provisions for the screws (any 84-87 200s, 125m should work). The problem in the past has been cost...which is what I'm hoping to take care of by offering these for sale. soon..

I'd like a set of the slotted plugs for the 87 200X, I was wondering myself if someone could repro these and yeS they are the exact part for the 87 TRX250R. They would be worth doing IMO,EXCELLENT JOB ON THE DASH PAD ! BTW it would be cool to repro the 87 200X pad to!

I would for sure like two of the plugs for my 87 200X. Mine r all chewed up from someone trying to spin them with the key. Great job.

Ok guys, just a teaser here. I poured a couple plugs with the first mould...can you tell which one is the NOS and which aren't (Don't worry Dirtwheels - I know:-) ). Needless to say, they came out excellent. Dirtwheels, I'm starting the 2nd mold tonight, and should be ready to send your's back on Tuesday, if everything goes right. Everyone else, look for these for sale soon!!
