The clutch is slipping on my 200 ATC. It does it the worst on take-off, so I went ahead and ordered a centrifugal clutch. But it also slips when shifting into 3rd, 4th, and sometimes 5th gear. Do I need to replace the manual clutch as well? If so, should I order a whole new basket or should I just go with the plates and springs from EBC?

Thanks for any help!

i dont think you can get the basket... while you are in the clutch take a look at the fiber plates for wear. it's problay just your centrifugal clutch slipping when you are getting on the the throttle from gear to gear.

'yamaha driver' may be right on that, but the 411 I have received is that usually centrifugal clutch will slip on initial take off, secondary clutch wear is what causes the high gear shift slip..

but then they are both bathed in the same oil..if lack of maintenance is what caused it then they are probably both NFG!!

you already ordered the more expensive of the two, buy the secondary set and put them in also since you are in the same area..no point in doing it twice.

Did you try adjusting the clutch at all? I only ask because you didn't specify if you did or not. Also I've heard that if you don't use a motorcycle oil specifically for wet clutches your clutch can slip.

+1 to what Doug said. If you are going to do it, do it right the first time and check/repair both while you have the cover off.

Yea, I was figuring on going ahead and doing both anyways. The problem probably is from lack of maintenance. The bike is in good shape, but I've only had it a year. I did adjust the clutch though and it didn't help. I paid $40 for the centrifugal and I found a nice basket and all for around $30. I'll probably just go ahead and get it. Thanks for the advice.

yea replace them both, but do not use the used plates, get new ones as the used ones are probebly worn as well.
