i had a jet kit, k&n filter and a supertrapp pipe installed. when the engine is cold, it pops when i get off the gas(decellerate). it only does this for the first few minutes or so then it stops. is this ok? thanks in advance.

Sounds like its running a little rich until the engine warms up ...... it can usually be "fine tuned" out by playing with the carb adjustments ... but .... I wouldn't worry about it - its pretty normal.
Oh, by the way .... you forgot to mention what kind of quad we are talking about.

I know exactly what this is, you have a lean idle mixture. If you are riding, and you let off the gas completely, it starts popping and backfiring (used to happen on my 250sx, I left it go thought was kinda cool like a cherry bomb or something). What you do is increase your idle mixture strength till it goes away. Hope this helps.

Cold engines burn fuel at much slower rate than at normal temp. No carb adjustments should ever be made on or for a cold enigine, because they all become void as soon as it warms up. Thats what your choke is for.
What Id suggest to anybody on any machine, is allowing it warm up properly before jumping on it and taking off, or revving it up. When its cold, its not burning fuel very well, and when you open the throttle, you're forcing it to eat even more fuel. You end up backfiring and puking plugs, (especially on two strokes), unless your lucky enough to have it reach temp before your plug pukes, and you can then burn it off. The problems are a lot more pronounced in cold weather.
