View Full Version : 350x valve/decompression lever adjustment
Could really use some help here. I am not understanding the way the manual is saying to adjust the valves and decompression lever on the 350x. Let me start by saying i have a web cam 40b race grind. Web cam told me to set valve lash on the base circle not at TDC. Well understood. After I get the required clearance and go to adjust the decompression lever the clearances change. How does this relationship work?. Would the decompression lever have to have close to the required free play first then set the valve lash.? Any info would help, Thanks dennis
Ok, so i quit smoking 2 weeks ago and figured the best thing to do was have a cigarette and figure out what the hell I was doing. I decided that I was right and to hell with the book. I loosened everything up completely all 4 valves and the decompression lever and set the lever to the required free play. Then adjusted the valves and it worked ou great. Why the hell does the book say to adjust the decompression lever after you adjust the valves. I can't see the valve adjustment being accurate that way. Anyway, Glad i got it.

Just make sure you do not follow the manual and consult the dealer (webcam) before adjusting them.
Hopefully they give you some directions.....
You may think it's right, but it could be off and it will eat up the rocker arm pads; Then all that crap gets in your motor.
I believe mine was .004 intake and .008 exhaust.
If adjust right, you should hear a bit of ticking.......
The book wants it done after it's together because the exhaust valve and decompression lever go hand in hand.
It's worth the extra time and labor...........
