:naughty:my old 83 did pretty good , it had 22's spidertrax , the trick is keep those tires spinning , dig baby dig, enjoy !! the 350x do better with less stalls,:D but with practice the 250r will get it done , just watch out for to much mud on the front of the moter and the airflow!!:pics::pics:

I run mine through the water and mud all the time but I make sure it not real hot.
I see people doing it but wonder why the engine cases don't just crack open from the temperature
change.

It wouldnt be any different mudding with the 250r than any other trike .Other than rpms. You could gear it for mudding.Iv been riding 250rs since the early 80s and rode threw creeks ,mud, snow .It is after all a ATC All Terrain Cycle.Riding in water and having it crack the cases is an old wives tail.146956 146957

I understand crossing a stream or going through mud as u r riding along and u have to cross it. But actually trying to test what u can make it through with an air cooled 2-stroke?? Come on...
No air getting past the engine as u r sitting there spinning and revving like crazy.... It's a no brainer, well at least to me.

yeah, thats what i am thinking, high revs, low air flow, oh yeah and lets cover the engine with mud, sounds like a way to fry the rings quick... now i am not saying i won't ford any water with it, or avoid all mud, i just don't think i am gonna take it mud bogging, I would love a 350x but can't afford one right now....

I rode in the 2009 and 2010 SNIRT run with my 83 above and it never over heated .It was like 25-30 miles .The 360 Mugens were tested it the high heat of the Desert ond they said there was no over heating issues. The four strokes like the big red ,350x and the 81-84 250r all cool the same way.Fabiodriven mud bogged his sweet 81.Dont sell the aircooler 250rs short.Have you ever seen what they go threw in a Crosscountry race. They dont ride on Blacktop.

you can mud the hell out of that thing. make sure your air box is healthy and well greased and all of your wire connections are greased and your spark plug boot is good. and run mud shark tires on the. mud sharks are the best. the same is true for a yamaha blaster . let it eat. they really meant it when they named them "ATC"s
run good oil like Klotz and throw a extra splash of oil in it . keep your chain in good shape and stay on top of your brakes.
the chain on a 250r likes to fly off when your mudding at a zillion RPM.
its good to splash some water up on the jug to clean out the fins when you have to.and if your jetting is on the rich side its better for the air cooler.
dont listen to these guys. mud that thing. just take care of it when you get home.make it so clean and oiled it looks like its never seen mud before or the bike will go to trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro like any other mud puppy .
i would rather mud your bike than a 350x it smaller and lighter . and most importantly easier to kick start.. kicking on a giant stuck heavy huge 350 that does not want to restart will make you pass out. or how about when your slippery foot slips off of that mean kick starter and busts you rite in the shin.. AAAAAOOOOWWWW!!!. i will take that air cooled any day.
years ago a friend had a blaster he put a air cooled 250r motor in and that thing never seen dry ground or maintenance ,and ran TCW3 oil from what ever gas station he bought beer and dip at and it ran for ever. i think he flipped the swing arm upside down to get the sprocket on the rite side but anyway.
this bike would mud very well its water cooled but its got sharks on it http://www.3wheeler.org/vb/showthread.php?47445-Motor-is-in
or this one..... this is a 250sx maybe the best 3 wheeler ever made . on sharks
http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/136707-250sx-tires-rims-and-wheel-spacers/page2
thats all your realy need is good tires and water proofing the wiring with grease and a air box

In my opinion this is the most correct thing in your whole post. The rest..I'm not so much in agreement on. I think mudding a 250r is like gravel pitting a corvette. Sure it's fun, but are you nutz??
I like my 250sx for mudding, shaft drive and drum brakes keep the mud out a whole lot better than chain drive and disk. I f*&led the chain and rear brakes on my 350x in one afternoon of heavy mudding.
Stick with majority advise kid, get a machine built for the mud.
