So, heres a pic of my ts100 top end after i looked at it.

The chunk missing went right over the exhaust port, so it wasn't getting gas in the chamber and instead just blowing it right through, oh and it was missing a ring. time for a bore out and new dome! and bottom end flush. I noticed the oil pump wasnt hooked up, so im pretty sure thats the cause. oh well, for 100$ for a bike that did run and roll and had the title, i think it was well worth it!

I've got a 70's Kawi 175 enduro sitting in the garage That needs a top end. It belongs to my brother-in-law. Its a nice looking bike otherwise. Those old enduros are cool bikes

I saw one drive by while I was at work today, and said to myself "buying piston and rings and bore with next paycheck." I just have to! :D

Well I got the motor back together with a bore, clean and gasket set! But... for some reason she doesnt want to run right. She ran fine first time i started her, but after i turned her off after warming her up, she wont run right. Back firing a little, and doesnt want to even start up after a little while. Did i blow a head gasket? or something worse? Any help is appreciated!

Been in the carb yet? If not I'll bet its full of crud starting with the pilot jet.

I looked at the carb and i blew everything out with carb cleaner. float works good, doesnt stick, fuel gets to the carb no problem, im just lost. now she'll run with the choke on, and turn it off, she'll run fine but then start to die, hit the choke again, runs fine, then started to die. im a 4 stroke guy, so 2 stroke is new to me :wondering

Sounds like it's getting air from somewhere else besides the intake..... By restricting the intake with the choke, you're effectively richening it up by letting less air in through normal channels indicating that it likely is pulling air in at another point somewhere making it too lean when the choke isn't on.. Have you played with jetting at all? I still have a hunch you have an air leak somewhere though given that it's a pretty new rebuild.

Troubleshooting guide for every two stroke ever made:

Step 1. Install a clean fresh plug. If it was clean and fresh 5 minutes of runtime ago, it is not clean and fresh now.

Wait until you find out what a top end job costs for it! Kawasaki used electrofuse cylinders very early on. A lot of them got scrapped just for needing a top end. I had a 79 KE175.

come to find out, the carburetor O-ring was missing. simple fix like that always burns me haha. Unfortunetly i sold her, she didnt have what i was looking for in the power :( i made a good flip on money though! shes now ridden by an older gentleman, taking him to DunkinDonuts everyday!
