I am looking for someone who can properly build a swinger out of steel for 86 t3 that will use 400ex axel and brakes. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

someone under the name HRE made some out of steel, not sure if they will make any more.

I'm glad to hear he will still make them. Please post a review here if you get one. The only down side I saw was the swingarm will be heavy. But how heavy?

I will let you all know how it works out. All the problems I have had with t3 carriers is that the ears that secure it to the swingarm bend and crack. Now they are no longer available and without somebody willing to make a few we are forced to do these very expensive upgrades. That swingarm is gonna cost near 600.00. Figure another 350.00 for the 400ex parts. In that particular spot I wish kaw would have forgot about the weight and used thicker/heavier material. IMHO these are the little things that hurt Kawasaki for a very long time in the atv market.

Have you checked into Polaris axle carriers. The early Polarises used Kawasaki styl swingarms and axle setup. I think the rims and tires aswell. I dont know how many years they went. Its worth a try.Check Bikebandit.Start with 86 Three wheeler I think it was called a Scrambler.

I will, I tell ya, those darn carriers are hard to find. I think that would be a good item also.

dont know if i missed it but why steel and not chromoly? I had metel tech make both mine for me for my 83/84R and 86R, relatively reasonable on pricing too. not dogging HRE, just hrowing out there that we should be able to find cheaper solutions for issues like these! So your spending almost 1000$ on a new swinger with hardware basically?

I'll take whatever I can get, that's the life of tecate owners. Yes I can't find any other way as far as price goes.
It's gonna hurt for sure.

Good news. Spoke with mike at hre. He is thrilled to be making our parts and plans on continuing
To make them. I'm all lined up with my swing arm. I'm gonna start a new thread on carriers. It looks good! Also, he told me that the economy has hurt the quad market but his trike parts continue to soar. He is a asset, but we gotta support him fellas.

I believe he will make them round tube or normal even reproduce west coast swingers. I seen a west coast last night on eBay fo 1200 for a r. He is building ours for around 6 that's half the price. An I can get a carrier made from billet for 90 an a +2or + 4 lone star for $200. So I'm still saving hundreds an have a dynamite setup

Yeah, I had no idea he was still making them, so being in the store would probably help everyone, like with description of the steel, weight, size, ect...

Oh and I now have one of those broken carriers, had never seen that.

my polaris trail blazer 250 r/es has the same issue looms like its tracking sideways down the track. i havent had a chance to pull it all apart yet but i have A polaris 350 4x4 and the swinger has all the same dimentions and is +4 and has the better carrier setup. i will post the build when i get around to it. also will be converting to scrambler as soon as i get my trike parts. anyone have an extra scrambler tank.
