Pits Ride 2012 Stirling/Marmora/Northumberland June 2/3rd

Hey Folks,

Its been 3 years now since my brother and I hosted a ride in our area, and thats just not acceptable. So here goes.

Saturday June 2nd and Sunday June 3rd we're planning to ride and ride lots. For anyone who's able to ride both days they're free to camp over with a bonfire and we'll do a bbq. We'll leave from the house both mornings, so folks who can't make it both days can hopefully get in on one day of riding.


Some of the areas previously rode on our rides have been shut down, so we're thinking of Marmora mine area for one day, and Northumberland forest area for the other. We are still able to ride legally in the town of Stirling for all the riders who thought that was a cool deal in the past.

Hope this generates some interest. I know its slightly short notice, but the seasons young and we plan on having plenty more rides throughout the year.

I'm definitely interested, but the marmora mines got shut down. They've had it blocked off for maybe 6 months now.

Awww Brad, I'd rather come your way to ride but we've committed to the Bundy hill ride on the 2nd. I know Dave and Shannon and myself will be heading to Mi that Saturday. Do another later in the summer and we're in for sure, it's always awesome riding at your place.

We're thinking a trek towards Bancroft may be in order, theres a good pit on the way Lamabbe I believe its called. Also there's still 2 decent local pits around we can tear up without fear of being chased out or having to cut fencing/move blocks to get in. lol

We'll keep an eye on the weather, its saying rain right now, but generally they're not too accurate more than a day in advance. Sure hope its not this brutally humid out.

If everyone can arrive between 9-10am(either day) that would be great. Anyone that wishes to stay over, there's lots of tent space, we also have a big refrigerater for any of your choice refreshments etc.

So what's the plan Kev? Is Jason right in that Marmora is completely shut down now? Which pits are still ridable?

Marmora Mines are completely shut down, you can obviously still ride through, but you cannot get into them anymore. Big azz yellow gate, with no way around it.

Our friend Jeff may make it out, also waiting on Brook and another guy to respond. We can still get into the Airport pit(long sand hills) without any problem, also theres a good pit in Moira area, I'm not sure you've been there before BJ. We'll hit them up and go from there. If its a hot day and the dust is down we could ride the tracks up to Harold Quarry and go for a swim. So people might wanna bring along there swim gear just in case.
