Its junk, sell it to me:lol: Have you cleaned the carb? That is the first place to start.

Sounds like you have a lean condition and it can cause damage to your engine. As BKM said, clean the carb is step 1.

I took the carb off and checked it and cleaned it but it was spotless it cuts out at anything under half throttle in any gear above half throttle runs good and i dont think the muffler is correct its a honda krizman model 508 but the bolt holes dont look like they line up does anyone know what the correct muffler is and what the problem might be with the running
Post some pics of the bike so we can see what we are dealing with.

Doesn't the 86 idle adjust by turning the choke knob like the 86? If your idle adjust won't turn it down, step one is to check the throttle cable adjustment.
If its cutting out at very low RPM, its either the pilot jet clogged or that "idle screw" you adjusted, that is actually the air screw, is turned all the way in.

I was going to say for the idle you should check the throttle cable adjustment.

So what was causing it to idle high?
1 1/2 for the air screw, and should be adjusted in 1/4 turn increments for best throttle response off of idle while sitting still. This will not cause it to drop out at low RPMs though unless its screwed all the way in.
