Hi my name is Carl, I'm looking for a place to find parts. Particularly at the moment I need a new or in good shape clutch handle and perch for a 1985 Honda 250R. Mine is still functional just wanting to buy one now and hold it back for when the one that is on the bike goes completly out. If you have or know where I can find one please let me know. Thanks

I found one on ebay but its for an 1982 year model, will this work on a 1985 model?

Hey Carl, I'm just down the road from you. I don't have a perch for sale but about any should work if you do away with the parking brake. If you want OEM, ebay is prob. your best bet. Where do you ride?

Wow, didn't think anyone had a trike that lived that close by me I only had my trike since sunday. Thinking of maybe going to Crosby soon. Thanks for the input, I have the parking break on mine, the guy I bought it from said it just needed to be adjusted. Probably will do away with it, I have noticed the rear brake pads will need to be changed soon, I already have a new set and thinking of changing them soon. Where do you ride living in Beaumont? Nice looking trike by the way.

definately do away with the parking brake dont throw it away but just remove it and box it up. i believe i went with a moose clutch perch or somethin like that that had a few adjustments. it really changed the feel, much easier to pull and less strain while riding. just about any performance aftermarket perch will help out id suggest a new cable while your changing stuff out also.

The only public place nearby that I know of is the Louisiana beach, they still allow atv's as far as I know. I've been down there a few times and you can ride as far down the beach as you want. I get a lot of attention over there too, you'll feel like your riding a pink elephant! lol Hey man, is dat ting as fast as it sound?

Thanks i will look into it. its still ridable just a little slack and the handle kinda hangs down. but by no means a problem yet though i forsee one coming up. i was thinking for now placing a washer in between the clutch handle and the perch to take up the slack until i find one and get it ordered as to not have any down time riding. im in the process of still trying to figure out a way to hold the rear shock canister in place. the mount is broke and the canister is wanting to rub on the carb. cant have that.in taking a closer look last night i see its spot welded into the frame. i can drill out most of the spot welds except for the ones at the bottom. i will have to see what i can do there. thought about just getting some hose clamps to secure it into place to keep it from rubbing.

hey xman what beach are you talking about? is it in lake charles, i would love to go riding on the beach. thought about going somewhere in high island but i do know they are illegal there. though i do see some from time to time. i have also heard of people going to the river i guessing village creek up in kountze or somewhere like that i will have to find out. as far as how fast i was told it would top out around 80 mph. i havent top it out yet myself. though i have been at least just a guess 65-70 on it and was still pulling like no tomorrow. none the less im having a blast. yours an 1985 model to?

The beach I'm talking about is Martin beach. Go to Port Arthur, hwy 87, cross over the causeway at Pleasure Island into LA. Johnsons Bayou is about 12 miles or so, a few more miles is Martin beach. It's the first public beach access. I don't know about the river. "Hey man, is dat ting as fast as it sound? " is what the guys at the beach were asking me. I thought it was funny! Yea, mine are 85's too. Let me know if you want to hit the beach sometime. And yea, no ATV's on the beach in TX!

Great will give it a try, I can drop you a line when I head that way. You had me for a second I was thinking you heard mine, wasn't sure how unless you live literally right down the road from me, lol. It would be a blast being able to ride in the sand. Where I ride at the moment is just a big grass field or plowed field which is still fun, just have a feeling might be making a few neighbors mad seeing how loud she runs. I have a few cosmetic things I'm fixing right now like the clutch handle, rear shock canister bracket, which I just welded the ears back on, noticed the cap on the coolant overflow jug was messed up. Going to see if Honda may have one. Just small things a little TLC. My brother works for a guy that says he and his wife go to the river with four wheelers and sees a lot of three wheelers, I will find out which river, and give you a shout.

I went last weekend, it was fun. Several ATV's, no 3W though. It's about 2-3 miles past Johnson's Bayou. Watch you speed on that old marsh Hwy too, they radar regular!

Hey xmanr2man do they require helments on the beach?

I don't think so. There is a sign up that says 10 mph, stay off dunes, no wheelies or display of power... I did stay off the dunes but was unsucessful at the rest!

Thanks for the comment, haven't posted in a while been bust at work. Been reading a lot of threads here getting educated. Thinking of heading out to the baech again maybe this week end. Not sure though I need to check my compression again might be getting time for a rebuild.

o.k. checked compression yesterday with engine hot throttle opened and kicked about 5 to 6 times gauge ran up to 160 psi was all i could get out of it. as i know should be 177-199 psi on stock which mine is or i was told that when i bought it. bike still runs good, cranks on the second kick everytime, plug has light brownish color looks to maybe be slightly rich, running 32:1 mix ratio for gas. i have noticed a slight change in power while WOT in 6 gear but not bad. my question is because of 160 psi compression would it be a good time now to go ahead and do a top end over haul before major damage happens? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i have only had the bike for about a month and mostly ride just about 30-40 minutes give or take every other day or so. not exactly sure but if memory serves me right i think the guy i bought it from said he had it for 9 years with little time on it. thanks
