Broken rear fenders on a big red? I think i've got a junkyard solution.

Although it's not exactly a big red, i've got a TRX 250 fourtrax utility. (I know, I know boo this is a trike forum, yada yada...) These are essentially a big red with four wheels, and a slightly different rack system, so someone creative could carry this over. I got the rear fenders off of a Yamaha Moto-4 and with a little work with a cutoff wheel and some creative drilling and fastening, I was able to adapt them over, with fairly good success. This works best with something with racks to support the fenders, but with someone else being a little creative in the support, it could turn out well on anything else. 147400 Only thing, is these must be painted, or everything will look pretty dang goofy. I'll get some better pictures and show the full process as well as the painted final product. Doesn't help that it's a cell picture though. final product follows the same body lines, and allows the rack, seat, and kickstart to be used just fine, as well as proper footpeg and tire clearance.

well Ive seen rat rods and rat bikes, now I guess pearl_diesel is starting a rat atv lol. Seriously though, I nothing wrong with being creative, when the obvious solution doesn't present itself, be a marine and improvise.

Well, they worked surprisingly well, and after paint look as good or better than original. Only problem now lies in the fact that the front fenders are in disrepair as well and I might really have to get creative. Especially since i'm running 25-13-9" tires all the way around and the factory fenders won't even come close to covering the tires. Makes riding in a cow pasture a scary experience.

I have the solution to your problem!:beer Get rid of one tire trailprotrailprotrailpro, and use the best fender to cover it. Now you won't feel so out of place. Were ALL Trikers here, it's ok.:welcome:

I have nothing against trikes, but I play with the cards I was dealt. lol A three wheeler would be lots easier, considering i've got the front fender for a big red in pretty good shape. But i'm stuck on this old wheeler, it's been around my farm longer than I have and it's paid it's dues more than once, so now it's time for its second redo. And i just always liked the stability of four wheels on the rocky hillsides around home. I have trouble enough keeping four on the ground, let alone one less.

Here's the pictures of the finished result, after paint. Turned out extremely well, some people have even mistaken them for factory. Aside from the mud flaps that say moto-4 of course. Fixing that problem as fast as I can, don't need an identity crisis. All of the attatchment points are hidden underneath the seat when it's on, and the racks give more support to the fenders, making them pretty sturdy. Did some heavy trail riding, and no damage, and the fact that mud doesn't go everywhere is extremely nice. Also, if you look close, you get a peek of my toolbox airbox/battery box setup.

Thanks, those pictures don't really do it justice. I know it's rigged as heck, but it turned out really nice. Especially with the intake and battery in the toolbox. No more corroded battery terminals. Redoing front yet, and finishing painting the frame and redoing everything else. I think so far i've spent around 40 bucks on this project, and that includes paint and Autozone air filter. Everything else was either free or lying around, or fabricated.
