Ok, I've been doing alot of searching. The 350x I'm selling to The Great Gazoo, seems to have lost its' spark. Been testing systems as per honda manual. Of course, we can't seem to test the CDI, as we don't have the "right" (honda specified) tester, so all the cdi's have no readings. Bought a used 85 stator from a reputable seller on ebay, my 350x is an 85. Upon opening the lift side crankcase cover, it appears there is an 86 stator and flywheel in there? LOL so the 85 stator won't work with the 86 flywheel. So were are currently stuck with the 86 stator. Trying to find factory microfiche, but all online microfiche that I have found show the 85 microfiche for both 85 and 86 350x. WTF? What I'm trying to figure out is if the pulsers are the same between the 85 and 86 350x. If the pulsers are different, than I have to find a nice used 85 flywheel and a nice used 86 pulser to see what all works by switching around and trying for spark. I really want to get Gazoo riding his 350x. Also, we picked up a Goki and I'm not sure if it will work with both the 85 and 86 350x due to the flywheel differences, or is the part where the ring gear pushes in the same diameter between the 85 and 86. We were trying to get spark and running before adding the new Goki kit. Thanks for looking. Thanks for any help. This is driving us crazy. Gazoo will be back again tomorrow for some more electrical testing and plug and play testing. Wish us luck.

Okay, Brian is over and we are going over the trike front to rear. We have upon kicking over, 6.6 volts coming from the stator. We have power all the way to the coil, but no power coming out. We have a brand new aftermarket coil and same thing, power to it but no power coming out. The coil tests good for resistance check. Does the power coming out of the stator need to be higher than 6.6 to have power coming out of the coil??? Ground is good. We have continuity through the entire wiring harness and all concerned parts. There is no "rating" for power coming from the stator during kicking it over. Does or can anyone, test the power coming from their stator on a 350x while kicking it over? Any help would be appreciated.

Just checked in quick, and gotta run. 85 and 86 Goki kits ARE different. Flywheels are different. Stator testing will be static,no kicking, 2 sets of specified wires, and XYZ Ohms resistance. This WILL tell you if your stators doing things right in there. I had a mechanic for years who Could and did,,VERY consistently test CDI ignitions w a test light!! Anyhow,Ohms should get you the answer you're after today.

Pat, I have a couple stators you can have, just toss up a picture.

I do not have a CDI, however, I believe the 400EX (if you can find one) can work in a pinch but no gains will be felt.

I swear, all the Honda ignition issues are easy to nail down, not much dies on them.....

We swapped out pulsers, but still no spark, but showing at least 1 volt on the meter. LOL We will try swapping the 85 for the 86 when the flywheel gets here. I don't have any idea why this is being so difficult?????????

Some interesting but good news to report. So Gazoo and I have been putting the 350x back together with the Goki all hooked and we intended to start it and see what we have. Got everything put back together and oiled up, kicked it over...no spark!? Tried starting with the Goki, no noticeable spark at the plug!? Just for giggles, put the plug in the hole, hooked up the plug wire, shot a little ether in....She RAN!!!! I have no idea why we couldn't see a spark at the plug?????? But I really don't care at this point. Hopefully the next time we work on it, it will be all ready for Brian to go riding. The whole spark deal is crazy though.

Did you ground the plug on the head when you kicked it over to check for spark?

Glad you got it Pat!!

We have all "not seen" a flat blue spark in the daytime. Hopefully it wasn't night

Yes, Brian and I were trying to ground the plug to anything we could find. LOL DC, the bifocals on my glasses can set ants on fire in the sunlight!!!! LOL
