Problem with a Artic cat 500. Help please.

My buddy has a 500 artic cat. when the electric start is pressed gas pours out of the air filter, back of carb. Could it be the intake valve? I don't know much about 4 strokes.

What year? it may have an electric solenoid on the bowl of the carb that opens when you try to start it. If the float is stuck or needle and seat is dirty, gas would flow out just like a standard carb would in the same situation.

When you say back of carb do you mean the end towards the motor? To me the front of the carb is where the air goes in and the back is against the motor.

Yeah, i meant the intake end of the carb. Thanks man.
