I am new here(obviously), I found about this forum through google while I was trying to figure out how to fix my 3 wheeler. I have a 1985 Honda ATC 250es. I bought about a month ago, and rode it once(because the axle shaft and ring gear splines were tore completely out), so me and a friend welded the ring gear to the axle shaft, which worked for a while, then the welds broke. So Its been at my friends house for the last month apart( because we thought we could weld it again and it turned out a bearing broke when I got to ride it) waiting for me to fix it, and now that I am waiting for all of my parts to come in, I figured I would get on here and get some much needed help for a few things. And I cant post any pics of it because I havent taken any pics of it yet.

Your best bet would be to just pick up another differential, fixing the busted one will probably be more trouble than its worth to just just bolt a new one on. Welcome to the boards though! im helping my sister and her boyfriend fix up their 85 and 87 250SX's right now lol same basic bikes just subtle gearing differences between the es and sx. you will find A LOT of info on here though!

I actually just got done rebuilding the differential. I made a tool to take the locking nut off and just heated up the diff and the pinion fell out. So now I have it all put back together and working fine now, just have to wait on my axle shaft to come in the mail and I can start riding it.

I had a bad rear end too. Ended up buying another one that had good parts for a hundred bucks.
