I've been on a WWII kick lately so:
Patton
Midway

On the other hand, if you're a car guy, Cars (yes the Pixar kids movie) is very good.

Speaking of car movies, did anyone ever see "SPEEDTRAP" back in 1978? It had one of the chicks from Cagney and Lacy in it (pre-porker) and they smashed up a bunch of nice cars. Good theme song too. I’m looking for a DVD and all I can find is VHS. Any chance someone here would know where to get a copy, or even just the name of the theme song (I’d be happy with just that) Went something like ♪Speed trap, don’t look back♪

Pre-porker Cagney and Lacey was Tyne Daley in that movie. Though, I have never seen it, I would like to check it out sometime. It is too bad it seems to only be available on VHS.

Now I've got the freaking song in my head. I hate when that happens. Maybe I'll buy the VHS and deal with the fuzzy. I think I packed away a VCR some where for just such a situation.

Next up on the great movies list: The original "On Any Sunday" and yes, it is available on DVD and I have it:)

A great car movie is Used Cars, with Kurt Russell. The war movie for me is not a movie, but a series, Band of Brothers.

band of brothers and pacific for my series. im all about the airborne and marine core, ive got a few of each in my family. forrest gump would probably cover my war movie :D its got everything you need in a movie. can you all see the connection.....tom hanks man the guys a genius. if anything big happens in this world and we break out into war im probably headed to the marines and hitting up the air assault division. im going to watch act of valor here soon and take in somemore carnage nothing like seeing whats behind the scenes in our military.

I really have no clue as to what I would call the "best movie ever". But, "The African Queen" would rank right up there in my book... No, it's not a gutsy movie, and I'm not what you would call an old movie buff... But I just like that old movie alot for some reason.

3 war movies high on my list:

Private Ryan
Full Metal Jacket
We Were Soldiers

But even better than those? 2 Ken Burns documentaries... "The Civil War" and "The War". There's just something about hearing the words of those who lived it that really drives it home....

A movie I always favored was "The Last Boyscout" with Bruce Willis.

K-19 (Liam Neeson/Harrison Ford)

The Hunt For Red October (Sean Connery/Alec Baldwin)

Crimson Tide (Gene Hackman/Denzel Washington)

Vanishing Point was another great... but IMHO if you want a newer car movie with the old grit and not about fancy ricers go with "Death Proof" you wont regret it.
