so i went to swap the carb off of my fourtrax 250 to my big red, after i swapped i realized the throttle cable was longer on the fourtrax to accommodate for the longer frame. no biggie, so i swapped the big red throttle cable into the fourtrax carb, my idle was insanely high, the cable was now too short :wondering thus holding the throttle lever up. i spent 2 hours looking for how it could be too short, the carbs appear to be exactly the same, is there any tricks to installing a throttle cable i should be aware of? is it possible when i screwed in the throttle cable housing ends i twisted the cable in the housing and made it scrunch up and become shorter?

Slide in backwards (180 degrees)?.
Check where the cable screws into the top of the carb. There is a jam nut on it to adjust the free play out of the cable. Screwing the cable all the way into the carb will take tension off the wire. I didn't put the wire into the throttle arm till i screwed the cable in to keep the wire from twisting. I also held the cable and spun the carb onto it so i didn't twist the cable. Hope you understand what i'm trying to say, i'm not very good at describing things.
