My step-son reads and writes on about the same level as this CL poster and he's 23 with a high school diploma..WTF is this world going to be like in the next 20 years?

I think it is more than the schools pushing the kids through, it is the parents of alot of kids don't do their part. They are to busy doing other things than raising their kids. Unfortunately we only see most of the time things like the craigs listing posting. I have seen it all being a retired teacher..Had studenst who are now surgeons and some who are serving life terms for murder. There is enough blame to go around. There are bad teachers, bad students and bad parents. Only one thing in your post, Doug, I don't agree with and that is using the term "retards.
