Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has tried putting yz85 cr85 rm85 or kx85 forks on an 85 tri z. From what I understand they are almost the same length as tri z and 250r forks however they are 37 mm. 85 tri z's are 35mm so my question is will there be enough room on the triple tees to just bore them 2mm larger? The 250r and 86 tri z forks are 39mm so this obviously won't work for them. What other issues might one encounter?
Also which of these forks has the best reliability/handling or stiffest suspension. I only weigh 155lbs so I don't think the smaller forks will be an issue.

Any other thoughts?

A set of custom triple clamps will be needed. You cannot bore your stock Tri-Z triple clamps big enough to accept 37mm inverted forks. The fork's diameter is measured at the slider portion. With inverted forks, the fork tube that gets clamped in the triple clamps is much larger than the slider. You'd probably need to bore your Tri-Z triple clamps to at least 51mm on the lower clamp & 47mm on the upper clamp to accept 37mm inverted forks.

Ah thanks for clearing that up for me. That's a bit disappointing haha. Does anyone have an approx price range that a shop might charge to forge some custom triple clamps?

I have kx 100 inverts on my tecate with stock triples but they were only one mm off from each other. if you could hog out your triples to 42mm you would be all set but I don't think there is enough material there to do that. or if you could press in the stem from the z into 2nd gen. t3 triples that would work too or have stem made, but after all that your better off ponying up the bucks for custom triples

Jason hall is the guy to talk too, you would get bent over bad trying to get a shop in edmonton to even consider it, imo
