Nice ! idle issues are never fun . Does it have a hanging idle were it idles high for a few seconds and then just stalls out ?
what carb are you running? I have a similar setup in my 200x. Im running a xr carb. I got a used carb from ebay and had a problem similar to yours at first. Upon closer inspection the slide was worn and would hang up sometimes and make for a difficult time to get the idle set up right. I found another carb and problem solved.

Where you been hiding, man? We missed you at pennsyltuckey this Jan.
Nice X. I've got that same headlight guard on my SX w/ the 200X front end. You don't see too many of them. Good luck getting it running, they're fun bikes.

Do you deal with Dave Jennings much?Iv'e know him since he started out over on Keiserville Rd out of shed.He always treated me more than fair. When he was in Springville was there a lot.Just had him bore my 350 jug and get me the piston and gaskets. It was cheaper than any online price.I haven't bought much in close to ten years, still treated me well.Don't know if you noticed I live in Nicholson. Some day we need to hook up for a ride.My time can be a little limited,Saturday afternoons are the best.

It idles too high and if u turn the idle down it just dies out but if u ride it a little bit with the idle turned down it will idle right for about a min then dies. Ive went threw the carb and the pilot jet is clear. I thought maybe and air leak somewhere but it doesn't race up. other than that tho it runs good ive only had it in third gear and it gets up and goes. theres a small stutter at 1/4 throttle but it clears right up.

I'd bet good money that slide is at least part of your problem, if not all.

bump, bump. surfing around, wearing out the search bar, trying to solve some little problems between rides. this is exactly my issue with the same machine. how'd you make out? did you file the slide down? i filed mine down a little and took out some of the edges of the dimple, seemed to help alot. problem still exists, but not as bad. I was afraid to go to far with the file. does it matter, as long as i keep the angle/pitch in the slide? it will not be as smooth as factory with a hand file, i would think. proceeding with caution till i get some advice.
