I cannot figure out whats wrong with this atc 70 the other day it just up and quite while it was being run so i
removed the carb took of the float bowl cleaned it out removed the jets cleaned them placed the intire carb in a bucket full of carb cleaner overnight installed new fuel lines 2 new fuel filters regapped the spark plug wont start i try to pull start it and it dosent even make a effort to start.
i unhooked the plug wire put a screw in it held on and had someone crank the engine its got spark
i unhooked the kill switch wires thinking maybe the switch was bad still same thing wont start
pulled out the plug its got fuel on it still wont start
tryed putting the bike in 4th gear and pushing it to a start nothing just kept turning over.
im frustrated with this bike anyone have any other ideas?

Maybe its the valve timing, maybe the timing chain was so worn that it hopped a couple teeth, did you try a new sparkplug, not a cleaned one, a new one? Have you done a compression test?

does the motor have compression?
Are the valves shot?
Are you sure you did not burn the motor by not running oil in the crankcase?

If your getting Compression, spark and the the spark plug is wet, maybe the float is getting stuck open?

I had a problem similar to that the other day. I took my plug out and warmed it up with a lighter and then put it back in. First pull and the bike was running.
Then again the outside temp was down about 35 degrees (F) and it was getting colder.

Not to brag but I just got my atc70 i got off ebay running today. I retapped the spark plug hole to the next size up and put a new piston and rings in it, and painted the cylinder. Rebuilt the carb and she fired right up. Now to start making her look pretty. I got 3 new tires, a new seat cover, new tank decals and a some cans of paint.
Its alot of work but these engines are pretty easy to work on.

You need to adjust your valves and points and if you don't have a manual now is the time to get one. And by the way, you may want to remember this phrase that's in my signature... "If it ran when it was new, it WILL run again." (with a little time and money of course) Just a few words of motivation :D

for a honda to run all you need is gas and spark. Do you have spark when the plug is out of the motor.
