I am looking for a high performance oil for my 350x and have settled on the Honda HP series oil..(HP4, HP4M, HP4S). There is alot of good information in the link below.

So the HP4 is the basic performance oil but then I read about the HP4M(moly) additive blend..now one of the issues listed with this oil is the accumulative effect of molybdenum on the clutches and causing them to slip or accelerate wear.

Moly is a great additive, I once had a car when I had a long haul driving job and got over 325,000km on the odometer. Now I really like the additional protection of the moly, especially with respect to protection at/near redline operation..but I wonder if the compromise to possible clutch performance is worth it.

Has anyone tried this oil for this application?? How does it perform long term??

I'm just a dumb hillbilly, and always will be. But I have yet to see any oil SO good ,that it will affect clutches! And we have TRIED. Additives,,all the good stuff,,now this was back in the early mid 90's. 250R's,ATC AND TRX,350X's and,,,shhhhh.. Banshees and Zillas.. The one that totally slips my mind,,it was an additive..I had 4200 miles and change on my 88 IROC, 350TPI. I put it in w fresh oil,,WHILE WE STOOD THERE,, w the car idling,,the idle went up 325 RPM's.!! Just as if someone was in the car pressing the accelerator!! We stood there w our mouths wide open. Now THAT was some good stuff,,I had to turn the idle down,,my gas mileage jumped and stayed there till I sold it,5832 miles : )..BUT,,if there is an oil,,SO GOOD,, I can dump it in a 350X or R and have the clutches go to slipping. I'll BUY IT! You will be absolutely fine running ANY oil that Honda is selling. No doubt in my mind!
