View Full Version : rear wheel spacers for a yamaha 3 lug?

Dad got some 3 lug yama rims with ok tires but he says they hit
the exhaust.
Tried spacing them out with washers but it's not enough.
Any thoughts on yamaha 3 lug wheel spacers?
Might buy him enough space to ride a little.
He just turned 83 and he loves the logging roads
in upstate NY so pretty sure he won't break those 'bolt extender' types/
Just concerned about thread pitch and bolt diameter or whatever else to look out for.
Also hear that the honda 3 lug rims will fit and the splines MAY fit if they are worn enough.
Thanks for any suggestions.
ps - he will not be happy if I buy him new tires and shipped to his front door, which I have tried to do.
He just likes fixing stuff.

I had the same problem on a YTM, with a pair of Carlise Strykers.
Those rims are offset about an inch. Have him turn them around and put them on backwards (valve stem on the inside). If they are directional tread, switch the tires to the opposite sides, do the same.

The bolt pattern is 3x100, just like on the late atc90 early atc110. If you get some honda spacers that fit those, you will be good to go.

What a GREAT idea.
Thanks
as far as directional tread, I keep a few trikes with backwards
rotation.
They seem to displace mud better on deceleration.
Thanks mike and vm.
His trike is on the other side of the country so
trying to fix from afar.

Not to derail, but are all Yamaha 3 lug wheels the same pattern ? What about a 225dx? 3 x 100? I guess that would make the front of a P3 3 x 100 also?

Ytm 200 and 225dx Yamaha 3 bolt are the same bolt pattern. I have swapped wheels and tires from a ytm 200 onto a 225dx many times. The only difference is the front wheel is a different offset then the rears. So that means rear wheels will not fit on the front. I know from experience.
I'm not sure about the Honda 3 lug wheels though. If they have a zero offset then they would work on the front of a Yamaha or Polaris. Anyone know?

I just recently put the rims/tires off of a 225dx I parted out onto a 78 atc 90 that I picked up which had all flat tires. Bolted right up to the front & rear of the honda not sure if there is a difference if you went from honda to yamaha though

i just put alt 125 wheels on a atc 90,so i would say a bunch of these things cross fit.

Awesome, thanks everyone. I have a Yamaha 200e parts bike. I'm going to grab that front wheel then take the rear wheels from my Trail Boss parts bike and paint them a grey / silver color and try them one one of my Scramblers, and that way I'll still have the original gold ones too. I like the way jeswineharts looks with grey / silver wheels. I could also give aluminum a try also, I can find that size and pattern for a Honda.
Sorry if I hijacked but it looks like the OP already got what he was looking for and I tried to start a thread on this once before with no help. I got it this time though.
