200x kick start play

My 200x has play in the kick start shaft. In and out play. about 1/4 of play in and out. What would cause this? If I want to put in a new kick mechanism, will I have to split the case?

It cant be normal right? Any help would be appreciated I just dont want it to get worse or wind up cracking the case or anything from it being loose.

Ok. So I did a little research on the kick mechanism. I know. I should have researched it first. I still dont know why it has play. Maybe the oil seal isnt holding it in right? I just dont see what is supposed to hold it in tight. I will figure it out when I take it apart. I am used to dirtbike kick starters that are just one shaft.

I dont think the kick starter skips or anything. It did slip on me once, but that happens.. Not anything drastic. I might just have to replace the cover, drive gear, or oil seal and the shaft. Somewhere in between it is not right.

Has anyone else had issues with in and out play of their kickstart shaft?

Has to be somthing to do with the clutch cover or smaller kicker cover , maybe the inner needle bearing failed ? Take it apart !!!!!!!!

I agree with shortline. Has something to do with the small kickstarter cover. If its moving in and out it sounds like the PO took it apart and forgot to put a washer back in or the needle bearings are shot. Its an easy fix IMO.

Yup. washers werent there. AND there was no gasket. So that fixes that.

Coarse.. No one stocks the thrust washer... Anyone know where to get a set of these washers? Anyone have an extra set? Or know if a hardware store stocks the same size washers? I need the 18.2 by 40 washer. Well.. I need the gasket and both washers.. But I cant find the 18.2 by 40 washer Any help is really appreciated.
