atc 70s got no spark

The other day i tested the spark on it by inserting a screw into the plug wire and having someone crank the motor and it gave me a lilttle shock,todayi bought another spark tester the kind that lights up if there spark and it didnt light up,the tester works cause i tryed it on my blaster and it light right up,can it big be putting out a low spark due to the points? bad wire?bad coil?

Well since you have the neat light, now you can isolate...Pull apart the wires connection from the stator/altenator/generator, and test there. This is the wire coming out of your recoil if no light then you can isolate that your points are bad. If you have light then you can move on to your on/off switch and or coil. To testy simply insert witre where they plug and pull recoil.
