atc 70 frame help

i wnna fix up the atc with a 125cc lifan what can i do about this damage and should i still go ahead with the build.

Holy crap is that the chain side? Bad bearing and bad chain = frame hole?

I guess you could make a patch for it but is there room? But I think a replacement frame is easier.

I weigh more than my 70s so I wouldn't run it like that. You're missing about 65% of the support for the bearing on that side and adding 3x the power.

Those are amazing pictures - I would never imagine the damage could be so bad.

I already got a lifan 125cc engine so I'm just gonna go for it. Maby think of some patch job on the way but the bearing still seems to be stuck in there good. What do you think the cause of this was? Bearings seem like there in good shape.still no play in the axel at all.

Throw it away and buy one off of ebay. Save yourself lots of time and trouble.

What was the cause of it? Gross neglect and misuse I would say. Are the rubber pads in the sprocket hub missing, rotten, or damaged in any way? That might let the sprocket tip to eat the frame.

Haha the rubber pads in the sprocket hub are a little worn and the sprocket can move a little that might of been the cause. I really didn't wnna have to buy a frame thou considering It's almost a grand for the other parts I need. Anyone got one for sale?

This is what I would do,, better then leaving it!

The hole would be an easy fix with a grinder and a welder but the casing around the bearing would be hard to fix. I'm just worried about the bearing not having support with the newer more powerful engine

Alright it's settled. New frame it is I'm not to sure wat year mine is I think it's between 78-83 if I buy a new frame of a different year my forks and everything will fit right?

The casing around the bearing is plain ole steel. I'd just make a flat plate myself. If the bearing holder were snapped off, It would be junk it but at least you still have some material holding it in it's stock location.......

Save the frame.... donate it to a pitbike trike conversion. Can use the headtube and backbone welded to the rear of tge pitbike frame. That is a quick way to extend the frame and get the trikes rake..

id fix it. cut it out square with a plasma cutter fab up a new plate and weld it in these frames arent growing on trees. that one is salvageable

there are 3 ATC 70 frames on Ebay right now ranging from 75-105.00 and one for 150 with free shipping to the USofA If you can't weld just get a new frame. If you can I'd still save that frame for a pitbike conversion and buy a replacement.
