does anyone know of one being offered now? or would ther be any interest if there was a kit available? I looked and all I could find were modified drums and some way too much fab work for a bolt on type of guy. Thanks in advance for any input.

That would be a nice addition. I would consider that a good mod if it were affordable that is.

Is there much need for it? The stock shoes fit bigger 3-wheelers and some motorcycles so its kind of overkill for a 70. With a nice drum and new shoes Mine will lock up the rear wheels with ease on hard packed dirt with me on it (210lbs). I'd say it might even lock the tires up on the road but I've never tried it. I'm not saying a rear disc wouldn't be nice, just not something I personally would spend money on.

Less fade, better wet performance,no adjusting. longer pad life. You said the key words "with a nice drum and new shoes" These machines are 27+ years old and finding a brake drum that is actually not past its recomended wear can be difficult. If someone has an all original 70 this obviously wouldn't be for them but it seems alot of the 70's have been modified with bigger engines ect. and a modern brake system may be benificial to these modded machines.

Isn't there a company that already sells a disc set up for a 70???I have seen one for the front but it is not bolt on at all and having first hand experiance with it I wouldn't recommend it. That kit is just a couple pieces of steel tubing with a bicycle rotor. The rear kit I have in mind is all atv parts that are modified and a custom bolt on caliper mount

well i found a rotor hub, that works with the stock axle, i located a source for a mechanical caliper for a foot brake , and now just need to find a rotor that works witht he hub as the one that works with the hub it 8 inches and a little bigger than i would liek on a 70, and also lookign up ideas for a front brake system also.

The one in this picture is a bolt on but I had to drill two holes in the frame, The design I have in mind will be completly bolt on no drilling, welding, ect. There just doesnt seem to be enough interest to justify my time and money to put several together right now. I may put a kit together and throw it up on ebay to see what kind of interest there is out there.153681

are you using a hand brake? i have been hording a working caliper, line, and master from a chinese quad but it will be hand operated. not a big deal to me but might be to some. how is your caliper mounted? caliper mount to frame? i cant tell from the pics. have you talked to jsmay? he's putting a couple 70's together and may be interested also.
since you'll be testing this one can we expect to see you with this at the next race? maybe a 70 showdown?lol

With the bracket I am making it will have a floating caliper, the rotor would also be slightly different. I am using a hand brake since the 70 has floor boards and because of clearance issues a foot brake really wouldn't work out. This trike could be at the next race but probably just to ride up to get coffee in the morning. This trike is just being built as a pit bike and to pull a small "trailer" around.

Why a floating caliper? What floats on the rear axle of a 70? I have 2 suspension 70s and nothing even floats on the rear of them! LOL My A+ has front and rear disc brakes thanks to my good buddy. I may even get the trike back from him some day! LOL

I just want to know who has experanced brake fade from their 70?
Now I believe it could happen...nature of the drum setup...but I've never put enough hard time on mine I guess.
It would be a nice upgrade, Ben.

There is interest and I'll bet if your thread was worded differently or posted in the "new products" section it would get more attention. Your original post was asking if there was a kit avaiable already, not I have the answer to making a kit and will share if enough people ask. If others are anything like me, I doubt anyone wants to beat the details out of you. Either you want to offer a kit or share the info or you don't. Not trying to bust your balls or piss you off, you seem to be one of the better members here, but maybe go back to the top here and reread your post.

I asked in that manner for two reasons: If it is already offered I don;t wanna step on anyones toes and second becuase I don't want to waste my time or money if it isn't something anyone wants. The only person who seemed to not understand the post was Brapp but that goes without saying HAHAHA. just messin with ya Brapp. As far as offering the info or putting out a kit? If I post up part numbers, modification to those parts, drawings for parts ect. You could expect to pay twice as much for a" kit "since that info would be quickly picked up by the atc 70 nazi's out west.
