You are blessed to be near Mclean Creek OHV Park SW of the City. Absolutely stunning; although I haven't been there since 1992, might have changed a bit. Pay heed to the dirtbike only trails. They usually included very steep hill climbs in the foothills. NW of the city is unlimited Crown land along the Forestry Trunk Road with countless seismic trails. Not sure if Ghost and Waiparous wilderness area is still open up that way, check with the Fish Cops. Those areas used to be tough to navigate but had limitless trails. A GPS would help nowadays.

I haven't been there in a very long time so it's hard to tell if they patrol or not. I never ran into a fish cop in all the years I went. I'm sure if you're being a nuisance you'll get a visit.
Last time i rode south of calgary they where very picky about ins and registration...i would reccomend it...cost me about 500$ for the year on my tri z,
