Picked up new machine today. 86 TRX 250 I know, I know its a square but I plan on putting the engine and drivetrain into a 250es frame. I've been trying to tune on this thing for awhile today. Its missing the tube that goes from the airbox to the frame, So I have been adjusting on the carb to get it to run decent enough to ride it around until I can get the peice I need. It was low on oil so i added some and it was between the lines on the dip stick(not screwed in when checked) There seems to be alot of steam coming from the crankcase. I took it for a ride and when I got back there was oil oozing down the engine from the crankcase line. What causes it to steam out like crazy? The engine runs good and doesnt smoke.

sounds like you have water in there for it to froth up and ooz out and steam.

I will prolly change the oil to see if it helps any. It looks clean on the dipstick so does the oil that was blowing out the vent hose.

Could be water or gasoline steam.

water usually hides in low spots in gas or oil.
Sometimes it will mix and get foamy. Either way can't be good.

I had a bad fuel shut off leak a quart of gas into the oil past the piston so the gas tank was empty and
the oil was 'overfull'.

I've also changed oil (again) right after I've changed it and it always has sparkles in it.

Get a cheap case of 10 40 and change it a few times then get the right stuff for
wet clutches.
