I've been doing some research and considering investing in a zinc plating system. Just wondered if anyone on here would be in need of such a service? Looking to do the standard silver color zinc and gold colored zinc as well. Not sure if I want to get this if its just for a few small pieces I want to do, would be a little more cost effective for me if other members need such a service as well (of course at a great discount!).

Depending on the cost I would be interested in having some rear axles and other parts done.

It can be done for a very small investment if you do your research. doing yellow or any other color is a bit more involved and much more costly. As far as interest in people wanting parts done? good luck I have done a couple parts for people free just for feedback and thats about it.

Just Ben> ok thanks for the info on that. I was most interested in the gold zinc plating, that is what the axles were coated with originally rite? Or was it cadmium or am I just way off there? Do you do any gold zinc plating?

the gold coating that was used is pretty much not available in the U.S anymore. There is a substitute available (which I have) but it is pretty involved to get it set up properly which I have not had the time to do. As far as just doing a natural zinc finish all you need is zinc chloride.ammonium chloride, potassium chloride, the brightening solution , a DC power source. zinc anodes, tank and stainless rods for the anodes and cathodes.

Thanks for the info. Let me know if/when you get around to setting up the gold coating.
