Tecate piston differences??

Well I have been messing around with some of my projects and noticed that my tecates pistons are different. On one the top ring is at the top of the piston while the others top ring sits down lower on the piston. Anyone got any ideas on this?

pretty sure the 85 piston had the ring near the top. Do you have a stock 86-87 piston???

I'm not really sure the one with the ring at the top did come off an 85. I will try and post pictures. I was gonna get rings but not sure what to buy them for lol. Neither bike is a 86-87 but its possible the PO put one in there.

156414 Anyone else Know why these pistons are different? Really wondering so I do not buy the wrong rings, being the one piston has a top ring with a lip. Both came from Tecates.

I just purchased a wiseco piston and it says years 84-87 on it. I'm guessing it would work for all years.

the pistons are all the same. I have not seen a tecate or kx piston with an "L" ring Any markings on the pistons?

The piston says ART and JAPAN 2 on the underside. Here is some pics of the markings and top ring.
