Well i finally got the yt together after boaring it and installing a 1.50mm wiseco piston. took it out for the first ride and was going great then it went wide open and dumped me on my butt. took it back and made sure the cable was free and the slide was free. went for another try and the same thing. everything seems to be moving free and after i shut it down it fires up and idles fine.

sounds like an air leak, check the rubber boot that the carburetor goes into for cracks also do a leak down test to see if the crankshaft seals are still good. look at the head gasket for damage also.

Well i finally got back to the yt. crank seals seem to be good not to sure about the cable. im wondering if taking the return spring off the slide and stretching it a little would help. i sprayed some pb in the cables and worked them a little. when i fired it up it went wide open, i started moving the cables around and it went back to a idle.

I had a Yamaha back in the day that had a scratched up throttle slide that would randomly stick wide open.

there's a splitter in the cable that runs the oil injection and throttle cable, that has 30YR old grease in it try cleaning it and see if that helps. if that dont help i would by a new cables of ebay.

Wow finally got some more time to work on the trike. i did find some scratches on the slide so i did a little polishing on it and it moves pretty free i am going to try and grease up the cables the best i can. Will take it out for a spin in the morning and see if its cured. thanks for all the help and advice.
