Has anyone tried using avgas fuel for there 2 strokes, ive recently started using avgas (100 LL)in my tri z 250 and it seems to make it run a lot crisper,it would be interesting to hear if anyone else has tried this and what they thought

I used 100ll for years. At the time, I wasn't switching back and forth from different fuels, so I have nothing to compare it to, but in theory, it should be more crisp than say a C12 or Cam2. Personally I would prefer 100ll vs Cam2. Really, you want the lowest octane you can run without melting your piston. The lower the octane, the quicker / hotter the burn.

If your engine isn't detonating then you are wasting your money on race fuel or Avgas. The only time higher octane has any benefit is if your motor is built up enough that it requires a higher octane and at that point it's not the octane that's giving you more horsepower, it's the mods you made making the horsepower.

If your engine doesn't detonate with regular pump gas, a higher octane is going to gain you nothing.

Correct....I should note that all my bikes were 200-225PSI. If you are 180 or below, you should be OK with regular (non-race) fuel
