350x question

I have a 85 350x, with an oversized plastic "desert" tank. the bottom rubber straps for the headlight housing hit the gas tank fins if you try and turn the handlebars. what's my problem? is it the tank?

I have the same problem with my stock tank ever time you turned to the left the lower rubber would rub on the air scoops. There are little metal tabs on the inside of the air scoops simply just bent them out a little, to much and the scoops will want to brake. I also was a bile to took the rubber tab back into the rubber straps I can grab a pic later if you want.
