Use patterns from a cereal cardboard box. Test fit before welding!! :D

People have the backbone break on them. I'd probably cut the whole tube out and beef it up.

I agree 100% with this. I broke the backbone on my first R after only two races.

I've done about 80% of the frame, need to know where the backbone breaks on a 250r??

I've seen two broken backbones before and it was due to the front of the frame rusting out and letting go. They rusted where the expansion chamber first exits at the front of the frame;where the two round tubes meet at the square part.Very thin there

There is a pic of Kintores (SP?) frame and where it broke, I don't recall him having rust, just a backbone that could not hold up to his jumping skills :beer

Personally, I'd cut some seamless tubing in half and wrap that backbone and then you can mig weld and fasten it all around and from 1 end to the other.

As far as your other gussets, just make sure that you still have all access and clearances for bolts, brake line etc etc etc.

If your not jumping 40 feet, I wouldn't worry too much. But if your going to paint it or PC it, you have to do it now.......

I've got a beach race lined up for it in 2013!! LOL
