So my 85 250r with a custom chrome +4 swinger has the stock 85 bearing and Axel
And in order to upgrade to billet bearing or adjustable Axel and anti fade nut I have to
Buy a new 86 swinger?? Uh that blows!! Anyone make a extended adjustable chrome Axel
For the 85????

You can use an 86 and newer axle in the 85 bearing carrier, but you have to switch to the 86 and newer style sprocket. I don't know of anyone that makes a billet bearing carrier for the 85 250R, but I have never looked for one either, because I have an '86 250R.
A quick search on ebay turned up this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-ATC250R-DUAL-ROW-BEARING-CARRIER-ATC-250R-1985-/290822430890?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b65e20aa&vxp=mtr
And several others...

I was told that this can't be done?? So I can use a 85 bearing with 86 Axel just switch the sprocket hub?
And will the stock brake caliper work an 86 Axel ?
A guy from RPM motorsports said all this 250r stuff is interchange as long as it's the 85-86 water-cooled
And not the early air cooled stuff... Think that guy is wrong ya?

All you have to do is slide in the 86-later axle and run the 86-later rear sprocket. The sprocket hubs are pressed onto the axles and any 86 axle you get should come with a sprocket hub. The axle has no effect on the caliper, so yes your caliper works with the 86 style axle.
The only time you need to swap brake caliper and carrier is if you switch to an 86-87 swingarm.
I am running an LSR billet carrier in my 85.. http://www.lsracing.com/honda-250r-billet-bearing-housing-honda-250r.19.2.atv-utv-racing

If you are going to use 86+ brakes on an 85 swingeryou will have to change the brake stay set up as well.

Thats right, but I believe he has all his 85 brake components. In which case no changes are in order. He is only looking to replace the axle...

Ya it's a custom chrome swinger the previous owner had made that uses all stock 85 parts
I wanted to use BDT dual piston rear caliper but can't unless I change to a 86 swinger...
Thanks for all your help i'm gonna buy a new Axel now!! Any suggestions ??? Lonestar ? RPM?
