83 ytm 200k yellow trike. It has an anoying rattling sound inside or around the area of the carb. It doesnt seem to do it at all when the rpms are up but at lower rpms going around the yard its fairly loud. It doesnt do it at idle at all unless i blip the throttle then once it idles down its gone again.Has anyone else experianced this or have an idea what it could be? It doesnt seem to affect the performance at all and it has done it for years. Thanks for the help guys!

I have a 1983 200 k also. It is noisy too but it drives ok with no smoke. I have yet too look into the noise but you can check the valves, timing chain etc...Change your oil also

upon further inspection tonight it is definatly somthing in the engine. im thinking chain also. Got it running awesome tonight and cleaned carb etc, but then i broke the shifter right off with a 3 inch log. that sucks. now i really need a new shift shaft, the bolt that was fixing the old break broke off flush.

I had a friend weld my shifter on after the splines wore out. The weld had held but the shifter broke lol. I put a vice grip on it and it works great! Instead of lifting up with your toe to shift you use your heel and push down. I have to pull up to downshift which is the only con. Works great especially if you just want to ride like I did.

My old '79 RM80 had to be bump started, and also had vice grips for a shifter. Great times on that bike growing up!
